Day 6
Today is the last day. We left a little later than usual, needed to pack since I wasn't going to want to pack in the evening. After breakfast of the other quiche, we headed out to Kensington Palace. I had ordered all the tickets to the Kensington Palace, Hampton Court and the Tower of London online. Once again the internet is amazing. First of all I got a discount on the tickets and second we didn't have to wait on any lines. Awesome!
Walked up the street to the Bond St Station and headed to St Paul's Cathedral. The plan was to go there when we went to the Tower of London, but K was complaining she was tired of sight seeing and walking. So it totally slipped my mind. When we arrived it was raining pretty hard. We were looking for a sign to St Paul's for about 5 minutes before we saw something. Walked up a walkway which was a dead end and had to walk back. Then followed the path to the entrance. Turns out if we made a left instead of a right we would have been at the entrance. Oh well.
I don't really remember St Paul's either. I think when you see so many cathedrals throughout Europe they sometimes blend together. Kristen followed another Easter Trail. She got into looking for everything that was on the list. It was a good idea, since it makes the kids slow down and take in everything.
We walked around for about and hour and then Kristen headed up to the whispering gallery (259 steps) I do remember that, Dave and I talked back to one another. I waited at the bottom. When she got there, she then went out to the roof. (saw a sign that said this way up) and decided to see where it led. Hundreds more steps! When she came back down she needed a break. So we sat under the dome took in the beauty surrounding us.

After St Paul's off to Kensington Palace. Walked around Kensington Park for awhile in the light rain. Actually we walked across the park. We followed the arrow to the Orangery, but the arrow was moved pointing down the wrong path, so we had to back track. When we finally arrived at our destination we were chilly, hungry and our feet were wet. The Orangery was a lovely restaurant which was the green house for Kensington Palace. Lunch was very good. Kristen didn't really see anything appealing to eat (it was a bit sophisticated) so I told her she could have dessert. So she decided on Belgian chocolate cake. Even the waiter said "nice lunch" and laughed.

When we were done we headed home. We took the Central Line today. It was great, we didn't need to transfer trains. Today was the easiest day of trains. We looked around for some cheese shops, but didn't see any. So we went to Mark's and Spencer. Picked up 3 cheeses for Dave that looked interesting. Now home. Instant messaged Dave and he wrote back we were home too early and we should go back out (4:00). Told him we needed a break and we'll head back out after. So he called and we chatted for a bit.

Headed back out and toured around the neighborhood and window shopped for about an hour, then headed to Shepherd's market for dinner. We tried to go to a Pub for Pub Grub, but K isn't allowed in a pub. Kids are allowed in pubs in Ireland. Oh well. Kristen had fish n chips on the brain, so finally found a place that served them. Lovely little restaurant. Unfortunately, K didn't like fish n chips and my cottage pie was okay. Had better ones in Ireland. Again, oh well. We didn't go to London for the food.

We got home about 7:30 and finished packing. Talked to Dave again, watched some telly and went to bed.
Cheerio! Until next time.
