Day 15 - Page, AZ

Up at 6 for the Antelope Canyon tour (must be given by an Indian) at 8:30. Canyon was small and nice. Guide was an Indian from South Carolina. The road in and ot was what Jill had in mind for a 4WD trip, instead of what we got. More of a “Baja thru the desert” experience, bumps, sand, rocks, etc.
Left Page before noon and had a picnic is the car overlooking Lake Powell. 110 degrees. We had considered coming out and renting a houseboat for a week but it doesn’t seem worth it. The scenery is nice but seems not better than what you’d get from the car. And too much traveling involved. Seems like it’s for locals. Now we know where all the RVs and boats were going.
In less than 4 hours we had gassed up in Kanab and made it to St. George, where we met up with the VRBO realtor who showed us our condo in exchange for $320. 2br, 2 ba, nice kitchen and pools and AIR CONDITIONING! It’s 110 out. About the same price as a nice hotel, and much, much more.
Went out to his recommended Gun Barrel Steakhouse, ok but not great and only $65. Back to the 85 degree pool, very disappointingly crowded with moms and toddlers, at least till 9 pm. This seems to be a Mormon family vacation condo complex. Oh well.
