Day 7
Got into the Colesseum at 10:30 and did the Rick Steves tour, we also took a reserved underground tour, through the passageways where the gladiators and the wild animals were held in before they would go into the arena to fight to the their death. They had people spraying perfume to cover up the stench of the blood. We also got to go up to the 3rd level. The steps in the Colesseum make all the other European spiral stairs seem easy. They were steps and on an angle, you sort had to pull yourself up.
After the Colesseum we had lunch across the street at a cafe. After lunch we headed to the forum walked around.
Got home around 5:30. Hot, sweaty, parched pooped and with sore feet. Rested for about an hour and chatted with Dave, then out again for dinner.
We ate at Osteria Romana, me chicken, eggplant parmigania an white wine from Lazio, K spaghetti with clams. And of course our daily dose of gelato.
