Paris 2012
The girls went to Paris for a long weekend in February. They were exhausted but had fun.
And here is Jill's Diary:
Friday, February 17, 2012
After an uneventful flight, we arrived at the hotel and freshened up and were out and about by 11:45. Found a boulangerie and picked up the prerequisite baguette jambon beurre and orangina.
Walked down to Notre Dame in a light mist, past Hotel De Ville where a ice skating rink was set up in the square. Even in the damp weather people were out skating and sitting at the outside cafes. Made it to Notre Dame and went in, unfortunately with the gray skies there wasn’t enough sun for the stained glass windows.
Walked over to the Marche des Fleurs and walked through some of the shops. Then we walked along the Seine and found where the Vedettes Bateaux was and walked back to St. Chapelle. What a pretty little church! Amazing stained glass even without the sun.
Tried to go to the Samaritane, but was closed, later found out it structurally unsound. Walked along Rue Pont Neuf past all the flower and pet shops. Went in one of the pet shops and heard a rooster. Who has a rooster in Paris?
Back down to Vedettes, so we decided to take the boat ride. K fell asleep, I also had trouble keeping my eyes open. Good thing we didn’t wait for the evening ride at 6:30.
Started to head back to the hotel and found a great cafe (Cafe Beaubourg) next to the Pompidou Centre. We both had a bowl of Soupe L’oignon Gratinee. Perfect after walking around in the damp weather. Made it back to Rue de la Republique and found another cafe for some pomme frites.
Back to the hotel around 8:00, chatted with Dave and in bed by 9:00.
Why are all the toilettes in the basement?
