Day 4
Left the apartment around 9:00 to take a taxi to the Vatican, we arrived there around 9:20 and walked to the meeting spot across the street. The guide got us in past the crowds and we started the without a hitch. Found out they were closing the Sistine Chapel early, so the guide said she would get us through the museum quickly so not to miss the Sistine chapel and St Peter's. After the museum, we went through a couple long narrow hallways, cramped shoulder to shoulder with screaming baby rude tourists and NO airconditioning, only to be told there are too many people in the chapel and it is now closed. The poor tour guide was so distraught.
We tried to find some where to eat, but nothing in the area, so just had a Fanta and chips. Went back up to the Vatican to take some pictures and get a taxi. Got dropped of at Campo dei Firori, had a medicore lunch and picked up groceries and headed back to the apartment. After a short rest we went to Santa Maria, one of the oldest church in Rome. It had beautiful mosaics.
Decide to find the other chuch in the neighborhood, St Cecilia , of course we couldn't find it. The maps don't list all the streets and all the streets don't have names on them, so we don't know where we are going. Getting tired of navigating to know where...
Went back to dinner at the same place as last night. Food was ok, got talked into something I didn't really want. Came back to the apt and talked to Dave. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day...
